Patishapta Pitha is a Bengali Delicacy and is also a winter special sweet dish. Traditionally this pitha is done during the festival of Makar Sankranti in almost all Bengali home. Patishapta is nothing but a thin cicular bread, rolled after stuffing with either coconut mixture or kheer.
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Semolina
1/3 Cup Rice Flour
1/3 Cup Sugar
Pinch of Salt
Water as required
2 Cups Coconut (Scraped)
1 Cup Sugar
- For Filling: Mix together Coconut and sugar press and squeez with hand. Set this mixture on fire and stir and cook on a low flame. Add cardamom and cook until sugar caramelize and the coconut changes its color.
- For Batter: Mix together Refined flour, semolina, rice flour, sugar, cardamom, salt , ghee and milk and combine, add water little by little and make a Smooth thin batter. Cover and rest for 45 Minutes
- Heat a tawa, grease with oil add 1 serving spoon of batter, Spread evenly and make a circular disc of 3-4 cm diameter
- Add some coconut mixture in a line then roll the patishapta so that the edge is sealed.
